A P20M CALAMITY FUND was allocated by the City
Council Friday last week for the rehabilitation
of typhoon Milenyo affected individual-families
in the city after it was officially declared to
be under a state of calamity. The members of the
council deliberated the issue on August 16, two
days after the City Disaster Coordinating Council
(CDCC) convened, initially identifying 15 affected
barangays.

THE INVESTMENT Coordinating Council (ICC) has recently
approved the concreting of the southern Palawan
national road and allocated P1.07 billion peso that
shall be funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

AIR PHILIPPINES Aircraft RPC 3012 nearly exploded
last August 15 endangering the lives of 88 passengers
including Palawan Governor Joel T. Reyes when its
left engine sucked in two birds while getting ready
for its take off at the Puerto Princesa City International
Airport.

GOVERNOR JOEL T. REYES last week issued a warning
to those unscrupulous businessmen and rice retailers
that they would face sanctions if found guilty of
hoarding of rice supply and for taking advantage
of the present situation. He also urged the public
not to worry about the current status of our rice
supply in the province and assured that there is
sufficient supply of rice for the people of the
province of Palawan.
