THE COMMISSION ON ELECTIONS (Comelec) last week
ruled its decision affirming the ratified resolution
of the 357 City barangays’ officials calling
for the recall of City Mayor V. Dennis Socrates
in a preparatory recall assembly in July 2, 2002
and set the recall election this September 7 next
month.

“IT WILL JUST HURT the people rather than
help them focus on what needs to be done,”
is how Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon described
the call by some individuals for a recall election
in the City.

THE CITY GOVERNMENT, through City Administrator
Atty. Jocelyn S. Dilig, sought an extension for
the payment of its alleged unpaid obligation of
two million one hundred thousand peso (PHP 2,100,000.00)
last week to Automotive Technology Development,
Inc. (ATDI), a firm contracted by the City’s
previous administration for the purchase of one
unit of helicopter.

CITY COUNCILOR Nesario G. Awat last week filed
a resolution requesting Hon. Victorino Dennis M.
Socrates to conduct a seminar on Parliamentary rules
and procedures to all newly-elected Sangguniang
Kabataan officials within the City of Puerto Princesa.

AN EIGHT-DAY stay-in seminar-workshop on hotel,
resort and food service management is set to be
conducted at Crystal Paradise Resort in Barangay
Antipuluan, Narra in August 19 to 26.

has recently focused on early detection and prevention
strategy in areas positively identified and inflicted
with Dengue.
