Another environmental violation was raised and
associated with the municipal chief executive of
Roxas, Palawan following the authorities’
confiscation of approximately eleven thousand (11,000)
board feet of lumber of various species and a boat’s
hull in Barangay Antonino, Roxas, Palawan last week.

ENGR. ROGELIO C. ABIOG of Sofronio Española
Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO)
and the Environmental and Sustainable Development
Office (ESDO) recently clarified the issue that
came out in the Palawan Sun that he was the cause
of the delay of the filing of the case against an
illegally constructed fishpond in Bgy. Isumbo of
the said municipality.

ENVIRONMENTALISTS’ lawyers, led by former
PCSDS Executive Director Atty. Joselito Alisuag
and the local-based environmental groups, last week
proposed and urged the Department of Justice to
deputize and assign special prosecutors in Palawan
who will solely hear and litigate cases against
environmental violations.
