THE CITY’S OPPOSITION PARTIES have currently combined forces to back up the displeased barangay officials’ cry for a recall election against the incumbent City Mayor V. Dennis Socrates.

Legend Hotel management denies food poisoning

THE MANAGEMENT OF the Legend Hotel last week denied reports of food poisoning that caused the death of a guest from Batangas Province recently.
In a press conference, Ms Susan Ong, Hotel Manager, said authorities findings showed that the late Councilor Francisco Calinao died due to hypertension and not in a food poisoning as the national tabloids reported. Councilor Calinao was in town for a convention when the incident transpired.

Sen. Legarda vows support for province’s gas share

SENATOR LOREN LEGARDA on Sunday this week vowed to support the provincial government of Palawan in its’ claim of the 40% share in the Camago-Malampaya gas proceeds. The statement was issued in a press conference held at the Provincial Governor’s Office after the formal opening of the week-long Baragatan festival on Sunday. Senator Legarda had come all the way from Manila to grace the proceedings as the guest of honor of the Baragatan opening.

PPA defers collection of pedestrian entrance fee

THE PHILIPPINE Ports Authority (PPA) here, starting last week, cancelled the implementation and imposition of P5.00 pedestrian entrance fee following oppositions both from the private and local government sectors.
