Ortega wants special audit of Capitol
By Joylyn R. Delfin
Board Member Gerry Ortega, who has been focusing his attacks for some
time against petty corruption within the executive department of the
provincial government, recently called for a special audit in order
to unmask guilty parties.
In a privileged speech, Ortega narrated the supposed internal systems
by which corrupt officials have been making money for themselves or
abusing their authority to enjoy privileges out of government resources.
Ortegas contention however met criticism from his fellow board
members. Concerned over the negative effect of Ortegas accusation
Board Member Haide Barroma challenged him to reveal the names of the
persons involve.
Kung totoo ito its high time para mapatunayan natin. Show
us concrete evidence to prove your allegations for the board to
have something to start with, Barroma said.
Board Member Antonio Alvarez also called on Ortegas to disclose
names as his sweeping accusations seem to inflict everybody.
Ang pagmumulat na ito ay parang naging general ang accusation
at nadadamay ang iba. If you have evidence gamitin na natin yon. Because
we need to have a substantial reason before we could actually go into
a special audit. We cant just do it without enough basis.,
he said.
As long as there are no names hindi magbabago ang ganitong sistema.
It is imperative to pinpoint who is doing this., Board Member
Jonjie Rodriguez said.
Ortega on the other hand refused to disclose his sources. I dont
need to mention names. You just need to look into the records and the
records will show you. That if this body is really serious with this
problem, he said.
